Nokia Accused of Violating Patent Rights

Companies holding patents from the United States (U.S.) Helferich Patent Licensing filed its lawsuit to Nokia. They claim that the Finnish vendor has violated seven patent rights. Helferich spokesman said the company was first contacted Nokia in May 2008 in order to dispute one of his patents. According Helferich, Nokia when it declined an invitation to meet and discuss this. Helferich effort when it failed. And since then, Helferich attempt to secure the entire patent.

As from Reuters, Helferich not mention the details of any patent that has been used his Nokia. Yet mentioned, Nokia products that violate the patent of which N8, X6, E72, E73, 2320, 5800, and 6350. Helferich that mention the company has patents pending in the U.S. and other countries, filed a lawsuit in Illinois, which is where Nokia sells mobile phone through Best Buy and AT & T.

In that filing, Helferich also mentions that 27 other companies that became Apple's competitors such as Nokia, HTC, LG Electronics, Motorola, Samsung and ZTE, to respect his property and patents have been licensed for use on their handsets.

Of course this is a blow to Nokia, since this company has just won the 'war' with Apple's patent rights. Last month, Nokia said it has reached an agreement with Apple, to end the feud between the two. Finnish vendor said the deal includes a one time payment by Apple and ongoing royalty payments from Apple to Nokia. But Nokia did not specify more clearly the contents of the agreement.
