Twelve years after entering the market as a family-friendly, fairly-sized sport / utility boxes, Ford finally escaped the attention to design something that is popular is feasible. The irony is that the model is flying out of dealer lots, thanks in part to the end of the lifecycle discounts and lack of key Japanese rival Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Throw out a new model V-6 option for the three four-cylinder engines - two of which are turbocharged direct-injection gas EcoBoosts - while maintaining the 3500-pound rating well behind the front or all-wheel drive. Escape hybrid scrub, with no clear plan to introduce one in the future.
Ford C-Max is the only hybrid in the North American market, with the typical form of the new Toyota Prius hybrids such as V, and without the option all-wheel-drive heavy, draining mpg. We also expect the Fusion '13, which will be Ford's largest new car intro of the model year when the arc in the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, to proceed with a hybrid powertrain option.
The Escape '13 carryover 2.5-liter four will be the price leader for accounting machines only 10 percent of sales, mainly to rental fleets. Improvements to MyFordTouch also includes a touch more climate and navigation controls, a comprehensive reaction to Ford's market research conducted to improve an updated version of Sync that sold so many cars and trucks in recent years, and now blamed for helping sink the Ford score quality.
